Memorial Art Gallery

  Director of Marketing and Engagement

  January - November 2016

  • Oversaw non-academic programs, the Creative Workshop (MAG's art classes/camps), and marketing.

  • Initiated the Creative Workshop’s first online registration system for classes/camps, in partnership with the University of Rochester (launched after my departure).

  • Administered an integrated marketing plan across all platforms -- including paid, owned, and earned media -- in support of exhibitions, programs, classes/camps, the store and special events (250,000 patrons per year).

  • Re-branded and launched a comprehensive advertising and publicity campaign for Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair (MAG's highest profile exhibit in the previous seven years), within the first three weeks of my employment.

  • Re-negotiated media contracts to maximize paid and trade resources.

  • Wrote copy for the Inspiring Beauty ad campaign (pictured) and collateral marketing materials; suggested the 'MAGsocial' name for the gallery's special event planning team.

  • Implemented the department’s first project management and collaboration system.

  • Managed the Marketing & Engagement budget ($120K).

  • Reviewed and edited contracts for the incoming consulting senior curator and prospective visiting artists.

  • Supervised five direct reports.
